What is the target audience?
The São Paulo School of Advanced Science (SPSAS) on FoodOmics is aimed at master’s and doctoral students, as well as postdoctoral researchers and professionals from both Brazilian and international institutions, with backgrounds in various fields of knowledge related to FoodOmics. Applications from students with different academic backgrounds are encouraged, provided that their studies and research are related to the School’s topics and relevant themes.
How many participants will be selected?
A total of 200 participants will be selected— 150 from Brazil and 50 from other countries. Participants who do not reside in Campinas will have travel expenses, daily allowances, meals, and travel insurance (only for foreign participants) will be covered by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP).
What are the selection criteria?
Participants will be selected based on their Curricular summary (FAPESP) or short curriculum vitae, motivation letter, recommendation letter, one-page resume (for poster presentation), and updated academic transcripts. The selection process will take into account gender balance and ethnic/racial diversity.

Terms and conditions of the SPSAS on FoodOmics
- The official language of SPSAS on FoodOmics is English. Therefore, only participants with enough proficiency in this language will be selected to ensure full engagement in the activities.
- Participants who do not reside in Campinas will have the costs of round-trip (air or ground travel), meals, accommodation, travel insurance (only for foreign participants), and transportation between designated locations during the school’s activities fully covered by SPSAS on FoodOmics, with funding from The São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP). Participants who are FAPESP scholarship holders must use their research project funds to cover travel and daily expenses during the school, as required by the foundation.
- Obtaining visas for foreign participants, when required, including costs for appointments, travel, and fees, will be the sole responsibility of the selected participant. Participants must be aware of visa processing times to ensure they arrive in Brazil in time for the School. The selected participants will receive an approval letter from the SPSAS on FoodOmics organization, which may assist in the visa application process.
- Airline tickets will be purchased by the SPSAS on FoodOmics organization on behalf of the selected participants, considering economy-class travel with the best available fares at the time of purchase, following a reasonable itinerary and travel time. Under no circumstances may participants reschedule their flights for different dates. If this occurs, the participant must fully reimburse the SPSAS on FoodOmics organization, including any costs incurred to facilitate this reimbursement.
- Participants with expenses fully covered by SPSAS on FoodOmics must submit round-trip boarding receipts to the Organizing Committee. The boarding receipt for travel to Brazil must be presented at the time of reception. Return flight receipts must be scanned and emailed within two business days of the participant’s return. Certificates of participation will only be issued to participants who fulfill this requirement.
- Participants with expenses fully covered by SPSAS on FoodOmics who do not require air travel will be contacted by the Organizing Committee to arrange their transportation.
- All participants funded by FAPESP must arrive on the day before the start of the school’s activities (September 13, 2025) and depart on the day after the school concludes (September 26, 2025). Extending the stay will not be permitted under any circumstances.
- During the School, all participants with expenses fully covered by SPSAS on FoodOmics will stay at hotels accredited by the event organizers. It will not be possible to stay at another hotel, as the official shuttle service to the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) Convention Center will only include these hotels. Each room will accommodate two to three participants.
- The organization will provide two complete daily meals at the hotels (breakfast and dinner) and three daily meals at the UNICAMP Convention Center (lunch and two coffee breaks). Meals at other establishments or the purchase of additional food items, such as snacks and beverages, will not be covered or reimbursed by the SPSAS on FoodOmics organization.
- Attendance at SPSAS on FoodOmics activities must be 100%. Absences will not be permitted. Attendance will be monitored for each activity, and participants must be available to attend the SPSAS on FoodOmics program for its entire duration.
- All participants must present their research projects in poster format during the scheduled sessions. Participants must bring their printed posters (a template will be provided).
- Any dietary, cultural, or religious restrictions must be communicated in advance to the Organizing Committee, which will bring the best possible solution for such needs.
- Up to 150 Brazilian participants and 50 international participants will be selected. Brazilian nationals affiliated with foreign institutions will be considered as “international participants”, while foreign nationals affiliated with Brazilian institutions will be considered as “Brazilian participants”.
